Tai Tokerau Emergency Housing Charitable Trust responds to the needs of homeless adults and children by providing safe, supportive, short term housing. We engage with tenants to enhance their life skills and connect them with services that enable them to move into and sustain more secure housing.
ABOUT US
Tai Tokerau Emergency Housing Charitable Trust (TTEHCT) was born out of the WEAR group (Whangarei Emergency Accommodation Response) whose members signed a "Memorandum of Understanding" in March 2004 with community organisations that were concerned about the homelessness in Whangarei.
TTEHCT was registered as an Incorporated Society in September 2006 with the backing of several local churches after a collaborative research project undertaken by government and community organisations in 2005 identified the critical need for supportive short term accommodation for people and families in our area.

TTEHCT STAFF
Our staff team consists of a Kaiārahi/Manager who is an active participant of the Northland Housing Forum. The Kaiārahi/Manager is supported by the Service Delivery & Contracts Manager, Office & Properties Administrator, Tenancy Support, Accounts Administrator and three Social Workers. Four House Managers and four Assistant House Managers are also a key part of our service that aims to support our tenants into affordable and sustainable long-term housing. The staff team places huge importance on service delivery with the highest integrity encompassing whakawhanaungatanga (building and maintaining relationships), manaakitanga (compassionate care) and aroha (love).
TTEHCT BOARD OF TRUSTEES
In terms of governance, the Trustee Board is made up of a collective of community and church affiliated representatives who meet monthly to discuss and pursue the best interests of TTEHCT.
