WHAT WE DO

Tai Tokerau Emergency Housing Charitable Trust (TTEHCT) is a Whangarei based non-profit organisation.

  1. Compassionate Response: We respond compassionately to the immediate needs of the homeless by providing a positive, supportive and safe living environment.

  2. Transformative Engagement: We engage and work alongside our tenants to develop individualised Housing and Action Care plans and set realistic goals, promoting change and enhancing the life skills needed to sustain a home.

  3. Building Connections: We connect our tenants with the appropriate services and agencies to ensure their Housing and Action Care plans can be implemented and followed through.

  4. Enabling steps to stability: We enable tenants to make steps along a pathway towards a more stable living situation and into secure housing.

  5. Governance, Leadership and Communication: We provide effective governance, leadership and communication that enables TTEHCT to be sustainable and achieve its goals and purposes.

We are currently running two properties in Whangarei. One property is for families with children and the other is for men.

  • Unfortunately due to the high demands for housing we can't always house those who are in need.

For Families:

This property is a block of seven units for single parents or couples with children.

The units are furnished with the basics and there is a shared laundry.

A house manager is on site and the property is fenced and gated and has a wonderful playground for the children.

The TTEHCT office is also sited here with office staff and a social worker to work with the tenants.

For Men:

This property is a four bedroom furnished home with shared facilities.

There is a house manager on site who also works along side the men.

This home can house up to six men at one time.
